Co-founded the Charter 77 human rights initiative and was one of its original spokesmen, with Jan Patocka and Jiri Hajek.

1978

Member of the Committee for the Defense of the Unjustly Prosecuted (VONS).

1977 – 1989

Imprisoned several times for his beliefs, his longest prison term lasting from 1979 to 1983.
