December 10, 2013

Illustration

At noon on Tuesday 10 December 2013 a Havel's Place was unveiled at St. Patrick's Park, Dublin. The city's Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn and former Czech foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg participated in the ceremony, which was also attended by Václav Havel Library representatives Marta Smolíková and Jan Macháček.

Václav Havel’s Place is dominated by a piece by Bořek Šípek – consisting of a pair of seats between which a tree is growing – that symbolises, according to the artist, the openness to dialogue that was one of Václav Havel’s characteristic features.
