Exactly eighty years ago today, Barrandov Studios began preparing its first film: "Murder on Ostrovní Street," directed by Svatopluk Immerman... Barrandov Film Studios, which over time became synonymous with Czech Cinema, was built by the uncle of former president Václav Havel, Miloš Havel. In February, it will be 45 years since his death.

The Václav Havel Library will commemorate both anniversaries with the March release of the first ever biography of Miloš Havel, "Miloš Havel - Czech film lord," written by journalist Krystyna Wanatowiczová.
